Natasha recently published in the Economic Development Journal of Canada. Her work titled “Three Point Recovery Plan for the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area” evaluates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Downtown Yonge BIA’s key commercial corridor and recommends three practical interventions: (1) advocate city council for a repurposed street that is COVID-19 compliant; (2) improve perception of public safety by participating in outreach work for the homeless population; and (3) develop a DYBIA dashboard to track key performance indicators. These solutions aim to bring back pedestrian foot traffic to the area to ensure longevity and vibrancy for Downtown Yonge BIA in a COVID-19 world.
“Natasha was my very first hire at the Toronto Region Board of Trade – and she made me look very good! As an economist, she occupies a unique professional space that combines rigorous attention to quality data analytics with a deep appreciation for the audience for her work. Her outputs are both sound and relevant - her work moves the needle of public policy dialog. Of many great examples, Natasha’s seven annual Toronto as a Global City: Scorecard on Prosperity reports have become anchor public policy documents that provide a rare understanding of the Toronto’s region’s economic state within the context of our global competition.”

While at the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Natasha looked after a wide range of policy issues on behalf of business community. I am very impressed with Natasha’s effective communication of the Board’s often nuanced policy positions to a wide range of stakeholders.”
